Forming Road Assocations Workshop
Saturday, May 4th from 9:00 am - 12:30 pm at the Bangor USDA Service Center
Thinking about starting a road association but don’t know where to begin? This hands-on workshop will walk you through the proper steps to forming a statutory road association (the least complicated type of legal road association). From picking a name, to creating by-laws, we will help you get information down on paper specific to your road so you can form an association and be able to collect road dues, get needed work done on your road, and enable liability protection. Pre-registration is required. Cost: $15 for one person or $15 for two people (we strongly encourage two people from each Road Association to attend, that is why there is no fee for the second person).
Basic and Advanced Erosion Control Practices for Contractors
Wednesday, May 8, 2013, from 8:00 to 4:30 at Eastern Maine Community College, 107 Rangely Hall
This course is necessary to become certified in erosion control practices by the Department. In addition to sections on "Why Erosion Control is Important", and "Erosion and How it Happens", participants are provided with information on the proper selection, installation and maintenance of practices such as sediment barriers, mulch, vegetative stabilization, riprap, etc. The course is of primary interest to contractors but could also be helpful to municipal code enforcement officers, consultants, engineers and public works employees.
